    Patients’ Rights Officer

    At Napa Olympic Private Hospital, we are committed to protecting and respecting the rights of every patient who receives care at our hospital.

    The Patients’ Rights Officer is available to provide information, guidance and assistance to patients regarding their rights, as well as to receive and address concerns or complaints related to those rights.

    Patients may contact the Patients’ Rights Officer directly whenever they require clarification, support or guidance regarding their care and treatment.

    Your Rights as a Patient

    Patients receiving healthcare have a number of fundamental rights which should be respected throughout every stage of their care.

    1. Right to Prevention

    Every individual has the right to appropriate healthcare services and measures aimed at preventing illness, reducing health risks and supporting the protection of their health.

    2. Right of Access

    Every patient has the right to access the healthcare services they require according to their health needs, without unjustified discrimination or unnecessary barriers.

    Healthcare should be provided according to the patient’s medical needs and within the capabilities of the healthcare provider.

    3. Right to Information

    Patients have the right to receive clear, accurate and understandable information concerning their health.

    This includes information about their medical condition, diagnosis, proposed treatment, available treatment options, possible risks and expected outcomes.

    Patients should be given the information necessary to understand and participate in decisions concerning their healthcare.

    4. Right to Consent

    Patients have the right to receive appropriate information before any medical procedure or treatment is carried out and to provide their informed consent, where required by law.

    Patients have the right to participate actively in decisions concerning their healthcare and treatment.

    5. Right to Free Choice

    Patients have the right, where applicable, to choose between different healthcare providers, professionals, treatments or procedures on the basis of appropriate and adequate information.

    6. Right to Confidentiality

    Every patient has the right to the confidentiality of their personal and medical information.

    Information concerning a patient’s health, diagnosis, treatment and medical history is treated confidentially and handled in accordance with applicable healthcare and data protection requirements.

    7. Right to Respect for the Patient’s Time

    Patients have the right to receive necessary healthcare within an appropriate and reasonable period of time, taking into consideration their medical condition, urgency and individual healthcare needs.

    Every reasonable effort should be made to avoid unnecessary delays in the provision of care.

    8. Right to Quality Standards

    Patients have the right to receive healthcare services that meet appropriate standards of quality, professionalism and medical care.

    Healthcare services should be provided in accordance with recognised professional standards and established healthcare procedures.

    9. Right to Safety

    Patients have the right to receive healthcare in an environment where appropriate measures are taken to protect their safety and minimise avoidable risks, medical errors and unnecessary harm.

    Patient safety remains an essential part of the care provided by Napa Olympic Private Hospital.

    10. Right to Innovation

    Patients have the right, where appropriate and available, to access innovative diagnostic procedures, treatments and healthcare technologies in accordance with applicable medical, professional and safety standards.

    11. Right to Avoid Unnecessary Suffering and Pain

    Patients have the right, as far as reasonably possible, to avoid unnecessary suffering and pain during all stages of their illness, treatment and care.

    Appropriate measures should be taken to assess and manage pain and discomfort according to each patient’s medical condition and individual needs.

    12. Right to Individualised Treatment

    Patients have the right to healthcare that takes into consideration their individual medical needs and personal circumstances.

    Treatment and care should, as far as reasonably possible, be adapted to the specific needs and condition of each patient.

    13. Right to Express Complaints

    Patients have the right to express concerns or submit complaints regarding the healthcare services or treatment they have received.

    Submitting a complaint should not negatively affect the quality of the patient’s ongoing or future care.

    Patients who require assistance or guidance regarding a concern about their rights may contact the Patients’ Rights Officer.

    14. Right to Compensation

    Where a patient has suffered harm and the relevant legal requirements are met, the patient has the right to seek appropriate compensation through the procedures available under applicable law.

    The Patients’ Rights Officer does not determine compensation claims but may provide general guidance regarding the appropriate process or competent authority.

    How the Patients’ Rights Officer Can Help

    Patients may contact the Patients’ Rights Officer if they:

    • Require information about their rights as a patient.
    • Need clarification regarding how their rights apply during their care.
    • Believe that one of their rights has not been respected.
    • Wish to raise a concern or submit a complaint relating to their rights.
    • Require guidance regarding the appropriate procedure for dealing with a particular issue.

    The Patients’ Rights Officer will examine matters falling within their responsibilities and, where appropriate, provide information, guidance and assistance.

    All matters are handled with appropriate discretion, impartiality and respect for the patient.

    The Deputy Patients’ Rights Officer may undertake the relevant responsibilities when the Patients’ Rights Officer is unavailable.

    Matters Outside the Responsibilities of the Patients’ Rights Officer

    Certain matters do not fall within the responsibilities or authority of the Patients’ Rights Officer.

    These include:

    • Determining whether medical negligence has occurred.
    • Providing medical expert assessments or opinions.
    • Determining claims for financial compensation or damages.
    • Imposing disciplinary measures on doctors, nurses or other healthcare professionals.
    • Replacing the role of competent regulatory, professional, administrative or judicial authorities.

    Where a matter falls outside the authority of the Patients’ Rights Officer, the patient may be guided towards the appropriate procedure or competent authority.

    To Napa Olympic Private Hospital στήριξε επιτυχώς την Εκδήλωση Αγάπης και Προσφοράς της  Νεολαίας Μητρόπολης Αμμοχώστου, για συλλογή τροφίμων και ειδών πρώτης ανάγκης για οικογένειες της Ελεύθερης Περιοχής Αμμοχώστου, που αντιμετωπίζουν οικονομικά προβλήματα.

    Η Νεολαία Μητρόπολης Αμμοχώστου έχει οργανώσει μια εκδήλωση αγάπης και προσφοράς το Σάββατο 18/07/2020 από τις 11:00 μέχρι 13:00 στο προαύλιο της εκκλησίας Αγίου Γεωργίου Παραλιμνίου.
    Κατά τη διάρκεια της εκδήλωσης αυτής συλλέχτικαν τρόφιμα και διάφορα είδη καθημερινής ανάγκης και παράλληλα δόθηκαν λαχνοί για οικονομική εισφορά σε οικογένειες της Επαρχίας μας που αντιμετωπίζουν οικονομικά προβλήματα.

    Λόγω των πρωτοφανών γεγονότων που βιώνει η κοινωνία μας, αρκετές οικογένειες της επαρχίας μας αντιμετωπίζουν οικονομικά προβλήματα. Όλοι μαζί μπορούμε, ο καθένας με το δικό του ξεχωριστό τρόπο, να βοηθήσουμε τους συνανθρώπους μας που μας χρειάζονται.
